Up and coming Newcastle band Silk Road, who describe themselves as “post-punk”, are set to release a brand-new track, and will be performing in a Newcastle city centre venue to promote the song.

Newcastle is known for its underground music scene, with many incredibly talented singer-songwriters in the city making waves in the music industry.

New band Silk Road are certainly ones to watch, as their unique music style incorporates the likes of jazz, fun, and post rock alongside original, creative lyrics.

Silk Road consists of Luke Enguita on vocals and guitar, Mikey Mancini on drums, Harry Paterson on bass, Sam Ramadan on guitar and Ewan Goddard on trumpet and keys.

The band are set to release their song, Travis Bingle on Friday, June 9 and will also perform at Newcastle city centre venue, The Globe on the same day.

The original track was created after lead vocalist Luke had a dream about finding a body bag on the beach, who then with the help of the band, penned the track. The song was then produced and recorded at Newcastle University.

Silk Road told NewcastleWorld: “Many of our songs have formed out of spontaneous jams played over ideas that members of the band have presented.

The song began as two very different ideas which ended up perfectly fitting together. The main angular riff which opens the song was the result of attempting to write a faster song to end or begin sets with; the disorienting off beat chorus was originally part of a ridiculous funk song which will never see the light of day.

The two somehow came together to create something we are incredibly proud of and was mixed by Lucas Knowles-Levitt, who did an incredible job carving out a hard hitting mix which perfectly captures the song’s gradual descent into chaos.”

Their gig on Friday, June 9 at The Globe will of course be a promotional performance for their debut single, but Silk Road will also be entertaining the audience with covers, and other original tracks.
