Win a Shaun the Sheep sculpture as part of Shaun on the Tyne event

On Wednesday, July 19, 45 decorated sculptures of Wallace and Gromit’s sidekick Shaun the Sheep will be placed across Tyneside as part of a 10 week long art trail.

The trail is named Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne, and is in aid of Newcastle’s St Oswald’s Hospice, who provide specialist and expert care for those with life limiting conditions.

The event is being held alongside creative producers Wild in Art, Shaun the Sheep creators Aardman and headline trail sponsor Newcastle City Council.

There will also be 70 smaller Shaun the Sheep sculptures, which have all been individually decorated by schools and community groups across Tyneside.

As the event approaches, Newcastle’s St Oswald’s Hospice will be holding a raffle, for one lucky winner to receive a small Shaun the Sheep sculpture, traditionally decorated in black and white.

Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne is the third art trail which has been organised by and in aid of Newcastle’s St Oswald’s Hospice.

The previous art trails have specifically supported Newcastle’s St Oswald’s children’s services, however the Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne trail will raise funds for the entire hospice service.

To enter the prize draw to win the Shaun the Sheep sculpture, raffle tickets costing £1 per ticket can be purchased.

Newcastle’s Civic Centre’s foyer will serve as a central hub for the trail throughout the 10 week long event, where people can pick up maps of the trail. The central hub will also be used as a space for people to buy merchandise and raffle tickets.

Raffle tickets can also be purchased in St Oswald’s Hospice charity shops across the regions.

The winner of the sculpture will be announced in November, once all of the Shaun the Sheep sculptures go up for auction. The auction is being held as a way to further raise funds for the hospice.

St Oswald’s Hospice chief executive, Steph Edusei hopes that the raffle tickets will be snapped up, for those wishing to win their very own Shaun the Sheep sculpture. She said: “The proceeds from every £1 raffle ticket will go supporting the work of St Oswald’s Hospice, helping to keep our doors open for those who need us.”
