The Yoto Player may be marketed as an audio player, but for our family, it's become so much more.

When I first bought a Yoto Player, I thought I was simply getting an audio player for my son to enjoy his favourite stories without needing a screen. I expected it to be a great alternative to a tablet and a lovely way to encourage independent listening. What I didn't expect was just how much more it would become.

The Yoto Player has quickly become part of our daily routine, offering so many thoughtful features that go far beyond simply playing audiobooks. It's become a bedtime companion, an alarm clock, a source of entertainment, and even a way to start our mornings with smiles and laughter.

Of course, the heart of the Yoto Player is its incredible library of stories. Whether your child loves classics or calming bedtime stories, there's something for every age. The card system is simple enough for even young children to use independently.

One feature we never expected to love as much as we do is Yoto Daily. Hosted by Jake (a dad and former primary school teacher) each episode feels like spending time with your favourite teacher. His warm, friendly voice keeps children engaged while mixing learning with plenty of fun.

Every day brings something different, including:

  • Beat the Buzzer – a quick-thinking game that's always a hit.
  • Jokes that genuinely make my son laugh.
  • Happy Headlines, sharing positive news stories from around the world.
  • Cheese or Chocolate, a wonderfully silly game that gets everyone guessing and giggling.

The Yoto Player features a built in clock, night light and sleep sounds that can be set to a timer. Rather than having multiple gadgets cluttering the room, it's refreshing to have one device that quietly does so much.

One of the biggest reasons we chose the Yoto Player was to reduce screen time, and it has absolutely delivered. Instead of staring at a tablet, my son is listening, imagining, learning, laughing, drawing, playing games, or simply relaxing. It's amazing how much creativity comes from listening rather than watching.
