Party time! How Newcastle celebrated on VE Day in 1945: In pictures
Look at the huge turnout for the special day in Tamworth Road. There are dozens of people in the picture and many excited children, pictured as the war in Europe was declared as over.


There may have been rationing and these people had come through years of hardship.
