Amanda Staveley spotted at new stadium amid £150m takeover bid & Newcastle United exit

Amanda Staveley has agreed to buy a 25 per cent stake in West Ha United for £150million.

Amanda Staveley attended the London Stadium to watch West Ham United earn their first Championship win of the season.

The former Newcastle United co-owner is set to buy a 25 per cent stake in the Hammers from Vanessa Gold. Overall, Staveley - and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi - will stump up around £150million for the purchase.

The duo left the Magpies in July 2024 and remain popular on Tyneside. It was Staveley who pushed like nobody else to wrestle Newcastle out of Mike Ashley’s grasp.

Staveley and Ghodoussi made a first public appearance at West Ham since having a partial takeover bid accepted. They brought good luck, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finally getting on the win column in the Championship.

West Ham are aiming for an instant Premier League return and kept hold of stars like England international Jarrod Bowen. He scored the second from the spot in a convincing 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Amanda Staveley confirms football return

Staveley has made no secret of her wish to return to top-level football. Speaking to Spear’s magazine, the former Toon chief confirmed her desire to invest in a club.

“We’ve looked at a lot of clubs, including Tottenham, but we are looking at clubs around the Premier League and the UK, Europe,” Staveley said. “We really want to be buying, going in and investing into a club again very soon.”

Amanda Staveley refuses to rule out West Ham

Staveley and Ghodoussi established a new sports fund, aiming to attract investment to launch their football return. When asked if West Ham would be a target, Staveley responded: “Maybe. You don’t know. I think both my husband and I were attracted to building a business where we can take a brand that isn’t doing so well, a club that isn’t performing well, get it on the right road, and bring that forward.

“There are very few clubs (where that can) work. If you want to tick every box, there’s actually very few clubs that allow that.”
