Inspired by the 1999 Adidas away kit, the design boasts a clean, minimalist aesthetic and a crisp white base. It is accented by a vibrant pop of mint green on the sleeves and side panels, injecting a bold dose of retro energy, complete with adidas’ three stripes on the shoulders.
And the striking difference is the change of Newcastle’s club crest on a shirt for the first time since 1988. The kit design features the club crest used from 1983 to 1988.
Peter Silverstone, Chief Commercial Officer at Newcastle United Football Club, said: “adidas has a deep understanding of Newcastle United's DNA, and that is clear to see in the design of our new third kit.
"From the use of the club's nostalgic 1980s crest, through to a design evoking Sir Bobby Robson's team at the turn of the millennium, it is an innovative approach to a classic kit.
"We look forward to seeing the team wearing it for the first time in Japan, and to seeing our fans around the world wearing their colours with pride across the exciting season ahead."
Inigo Turner, Design Director at adidas Football, said: “The 2024/25 third kit is a perfect blend of classic and contemporary design. We wanted to tap into the raw energy and nostalgia of the '90s, a period synonymous with both adidas EQT and the re-emergence of Newcastle United’s iconic presence on the pitch.
“This kit is a love letter to that era, blending classic design elements with a modern streetwear edge that resonates with fans of all generations.”
While the kit is now available to buy on Tyneside, NewcastleWorld were fortunate to witness the kit launch at the Euro Sports shop in Ginza. Check out our gallery:
