Newcastle United supporters are already checking their passports are up to date as the Magpies prepare to return to European competition for the first time in a decade next season.

Should Liverpool fall to a home defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday, the Magpies will host Champions League football once again after a two-decade absence from UEFA’s flagship club competition. Should the Reds claim the win they need to keep up the pressure on Eddie Howe’s side, United will need just one more win from their remaining games against Leicester City and Chelsea to ensure they end the season in a top four spot.

With dreams of Europe now quickly becoming a reality, Magpies supporters will look forward to trips to the continent when the new season gets underway in August - and they will count a whole host of familiar faces in their number.
