Newcastle United maintain that Alexander Isak is not for sale amid reported Premier League interest

Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool should break the bank to sign Alexander Isak this summer.

The Reds are undergoing a rebuilding project following Jurgen Klopp’s exit. Michael Edwards has returned as CEO, with Bournemouth sporting director Richard Hughes also arriving.

Arne Slot has been confirmed as Klopp’s replacement and Anfield chiefs will be looking to back him in the transfer market. A major overhaul could take place, with several high-profile stars considering exits.

Clubs may need to brace themselves for sizable offers from Liverpool as Slot aims to build the team in his image. Newcastle United supporters have likely grown tired of rumours linking their best players with big-money moves.

Isak - the Magpies’ record signing - has attracted reported interest from Arsenal. Many view a striker as being the final piece of the jigsaw for Mikel Arteta to clinch the Premier League title.

But potential suitors must stump up between £150million and £200million for Isak - who bagged 25 goals last season. Liverpool legend Fowler has urged his former club to sign the Swede, who he compared to ex-forward Sadio Mane.

"In the last six weeks or so, it has become evident that Liverpool need a player who can change things and make their attack more varied when it isn’t happening for them,” he told Crypto Casino Ltd. “There are two players I would genuinely like to see at the club: Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak.

"I think Watkins has just signed a new deal, but I’ve got a lot of time for him and I think he is brilliant. Isak, for me, reminds me of Sadio Mane as well.

“I don’t want to put things in people’s heads, but I think he would be a good fit as well. There’s a bit of a Sadio Mane headache still at Liverpool and I can see a bit of Mane in Isak, in all honesty."
