‘A waste’ - South American media brand Eddie Howe a ‘joke’ for Newcastle United treatment
Just one Premier League start in 2024-25 has raised question marks over the forward’s future. While Eddie Howe has frequently changed his frontline, with Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes and Joelinton asked to play out wide, Almiron has seen little action.
His agent, Daniel Campos, opened up about the player’s frustrations last month. Despite concern about the lack of minutes, Almiron’s wage demands could make moving him on difficult.

“So it seems that he has another one-and-a-half year left on his contract with Newcastle United and that, unless some other club makes a significant offer, with corresponding wages, he will stay on Tyneside for a while yet.”
Newcastle will be looking to squeeze every pound out of the current FFP/PSR regulations in January. Funds are rumoured to be tight this winter as Toon chiefs continue to be frustrated under the measures.
Player trading will be essential, with noises suggesting the Magpies may need to sell first. Almiron could command a sizable fee - but nowhere near what his price tag may have been 12 months ago.
