Newcastle United 'moved quickly' to complete another summer transfer as 2031 deal agreed

Newcastle United have confirmed their fourth summer signing.

Newcastle United have officially confirmed the signing of Aladji Bamba from AS Monaco on a five-year deal.

The 20-year-old midfielder joins for a fee undisclosed by the club but thought to be in the region of £30million.

The France Under-20 international broke into the Monaco side in Ligue 1 last season and went on to make 25 appearances, including five times in the Champions League.

The deal sees Newcastle continue a youthful recruitment strategy this summer following the signings of Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur, who are all under the age of 21.

A club statement confirmed a five-year deal for the youngster, who will wear the No. 8 shirt left vacant by Sandro Tonali.

Speaking to the club, Bamba said: “I’m very happy to be here – it’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to get started. I was very excited when I heard Newcastle were interested in signing me.

“I know about the history of the club and I’ve visited the stadium already, which is amazing. I can’t wait to be on the pitch there and hope to have some great times with the fans.

“I’m excited to test myself in a new league, the biggest league in the world. I learned a lot last season and now I feel ready for this new opportunity. I will give my all for this club.”

Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson confirmed the club have been following Bamba’s progress at Monaco over the past year.

“We’ve followed Aladji’s progress with Monaco in France closely, and his profile has been rising fast across Europe,” he said. “When we saw the opportunity and his desire to come to Newcastle United, we moved quickly to secure his signature.

“We’re excited to see his evolution here in the Premier League and we are delighted to welcome him to Tyneside as our fourth addition to the squad this summer.”
