Alexander Isak wasn’t the only Newcastle United star that received praise from Alan Shearer after the win over Wolves.

Alan Shearer highlighted two Newcastle United players following the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.

The Magpies legend watched on as striker Alexander Isak broke one of his records by scoring in an eighth consecutive Premier League game.

The Swede opened the scoring in the first-half when his shot took a big deflection off Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. He added a second on the hour-mark when he was slotted in by Bruno Guimaraes before he turned provider for Anthony Gordon’s 74th-minute goal.

Isak has now scored 52 goals in 90 appearances since arriving from Real Socieded in August 2022, 17 of which have come this campaign.

Discussing Isak’s form on Match of the Day, Shearer said: “He is in red form, no one can stop him. Eight games in a row, 16 goals in 16 games and he said it himself that he feels amazing and when you feel amazing, you go onto a football pitch not hoping you’ll score but knowing you’ll score.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling. I don’t care who you are playing against, which centre-half you’re playing against, you’ve just got this belief and confidence.”

But it wasn’t just Isak who Shearer was left impressed by. In the closing stages, the Premier League’s record goalscorer showed a clip of Sandro Tonali relentlessly chasing down the Wolves players.

“Everything good about Newcastle, this is it from Tonali,” Shearer added. “Last minute, 3-0 up, he’s bursting forward. He loses the ball then watch his reaction... that is why Newcastle are in the form they’re in.

“Every single player is at it and that epitomizes everything great about them and why they are so impressive at this moment in time.”
