“I’ll find out more today [Friday]. It was a strange one with his eye as the ball just grazed his eye and we felt at that time that was the main reason for him coming off the pitch. Then he had a knock to his foot as well so he’s got a combination of the two. We’ll make a decision today.

Expected return date: Fulham (A), September 21.

Wilson picked up a back injury during the first week of pre-season, which required an injection. He has missed all five of the club’s opening competitive fixtures and won’t return until after the October international break.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

“Any injury to the hamstring is potentially complex. There’s no re-injury it’s just a case of re-adjusting the timescale really depending on how he felt. We’ve had to listen to his body when he’s delivered the work. He’s been re-scanned and it’s maybe not healed as quickly as we hoped. A slight adjustment but hopefully we’ll have him back fully fit and firing for the next group of games which will be really important.

“We have missed him. I think we’ve really missed his energy and what he brings to the squad and we’ve missed the competition that he brings.”

Expected return date: Brighton & Hove Albion (H), October 19.

“He's doing well, he's back on the grass, it is great to see him with his boots on. The first time was last week. He's on track I'd say for the three months he was given initially, I don't see any big change from that."

Expected return date: October 2024.

Sven Botman

The Dutch defender has been sidelined since March because of an ACL injury. It came after Botman had previously missed three months with a knee injury.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

"Both players have shown a great attitude to their injuries. Long road ahead for both of them. They're sort of in the middle of that time now. Both seem a lot more positive and I think it's natural when you first have the injury. and you sort of have the operation, and you're in the early stages, you can't do a lot, there's a feeling of frustration.

"I've been there as an athlete, it's a difficult moment. But when you start to do more and you get the heartbeat going and you get the physical work started, you feel so much better about yourself.

Expected return date: December 2024.

Just a couple of weeks after Botman sustained an ACL injury, club skipper Lascelles did the same during the early stages of the 4-3 win over West Ham United.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

“I'd say Sven's probably a little bit ahead of Jamaal just in terms of their rehabs, but both players committed to their work and doing great.”

Expected return date: December 2024/ early 2025
