Alexander Isak comments on Newcastle United £150m price tag as Gary Neville & Jamie Carragher in agreement
The 25-year-old netted his eighth goal in six matches as the Magpies won 2-0 at Manchester United on Monday night to record only their second-ever Premier League victory at Old Trafford.
Isak opened the scoring three minutes in before Joelinton added a second. The Swede now has 12 league goals this campaign and in 2024 alone has netted 25, a total that only Alan Shearer (27) has bettered for Newcastle over a calendar year.

On current form, former England defenders Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville believe Isak is the best striker in England.
"He is the best striker in the Premier League right now, and he is, I don't think it's actually close right now, I think he's the real standout," said Carragher. "He's not just a goalscorer, you're seeing some of his touches, and I can never forget the first time I saw him play live.
"It was a couple of years ago, maybe two or three years ago at Anfield, very early on in the season, he scored a goal, he ran through, and the thing about him is, when he's got a chance to score or he's got to finish, he's one of those strikers you never expect him to miss, he's always got that coolness in front of goal."

Neville added: "I think he is the best striker at this moment in time in the country, purely because I watch Erling Haaland a lot who is a world-class striker but his overall play is nowhere near Isak's level at this moment in time.

Isak has scored 48 goals in 87 games for Newcastle since his club-record £63million move from Real Sociedad in August 2022. His form has led to constant speculation around his future with reports this week claiming the Magpies value him at £150m.
When that was put to Isak, he replied: “It doesn’t really faze me too much. That’s more for you guys and fans to talk about. I am in the middle of the season and I think it’s going really well for me and the team. All my focus is here and I am really happy with how things are going.”
