Allan Saint-Maximin has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for August.
The Frenchman, who beat the likes of teammates Fabian Schar (vs Nottingham Forest) and Kieran Trippier (vs Man City) to the accolade, scored a stunning late equaliser against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Saint-Maximin becomes the second Magpies player to win the GOTM award in 2022 after Miguel Almiron’s solo strike against Crystal Palace in May.
“It’s a tough trophy to win so I’m very proud,” said Saint-Maximin. “It was a nice goal, but it’s always very difficult to win this trophy.
“You can see many players scored a goal, even at Newcastle with Faby and Tripps, so that’s why I’m very proud to win that trophy and get a point for my team.”

The 25-year-old has been sidelined with a hamstring injury which was sustained in that 1-1 draw at Molineux.
Saint-Maximin is “improving”, however is unlikely to return until after the international break.

Howe, speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League against former club Bournemouth, said: “Allan is frustrated when he’s injured, naturally he wants to play, that’s his life.
“He loves training, he loves football. He’s worked really hard on his comeback. We’ve been really pleased with him too.”
