Allan Saint-Maximin has posted a fitness update to Instagram amidst reports he’ll be sidelined for weeks with an injury.

After missing Newcastle United’s 2-1 win against Brentford last weekend, Eddie Howe said he didn’t believe the injury to be serious.

The head coach said: “I don’t think it’s serious with Allan.

“He didn’t feel 100 per-cent in the West Ham game so we decided to scan him and it revealed a very minor problem with his hamstring. We knew pretty much straight away he wasn’t going to be available for this game.

“Maybe a couple of weeks - I’m guessing slightly. Nothing too serious but that was a big blow because of the form Allan has been in. But again, we back the strength of the squad.”

But today, NewcastleWorld reported the injury was more serious than initially expected.

After further assessments, the winger is thought to be out-of-action for at least six weeks with a grade two hamstring injury.

Saint-Maximin is back in France, posting to Instagram numerous times from his physiotherapists in Monaco.

And now he has posted to his Instagram story a video of him running energetically along a waterfront with the caption ‘mission, back soon.’

Moving at a quick pace, this has given some fans hope he’ll be back quicker than anticipated and before the end of the season.
