Allan Saint-Maximin is set to be included in Newcastle United’s matchday squad for the visit of Arsenal this afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm).
The 25-year-old hasn’t featured since the 5-1 win at West Ham United on April 5 due to a hamstring injury. Saint-Maximin started his recovery in France before returning to the club’s training ground at the beginning of last week.

He’s missed games against Brentford, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Southampton but should be available versus Arsenal. The Frenchman teased his return on social media with his regular matchday video.
United head coach Eddie Howe revealed during Friday’s pre-match press conference that Saint-Maximin had returned to full training. “Allan trained yesterday [Thursday],” said Howe. “It was great to see him back on the grass, he trained very well too. Really pleased with that.”
Prior to his injury, Saint-Maximin had started four consecutive games - his best run in the starting XI since August - and claimed back-to-back assists in victories over Manchester United and West Ham.

It has, however, largely been a frustrating campaign for the player, with an early season hamstring issue restricting him to 11 Premier League starts.

“It’s such a shame that the two moments when you thought Maxi was entering his best form, he picked up an injury,” Howe added. “Against Wolves away when he scored a spectacular goal and we lost him for a period of time.
“And then the West Ham game, he was really contributing assists and affecting games, and we lose him again. It’s been disruptive but he has trained really well, he looks in good physical condition and has a huge part to play.”
