Allan Saint-Maximin’s representatives have teased his Newcastle United comeback against Brentford this weekend.

The Magpies star has missed the previous four Premier League games with a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

Saint-Maximin, however, is nearing a return. His agency KSM Sports posted a short video on Instagram on Monday with the caption “the comeback is imminent”.

The 25-year-old Frenchman trained on Friday ahead of the trip to Fulham but was left out of the squad that won 4-1 in the capital.

Asked if Saint-Maximin be involved for the visit of Brentford, head coach Eddie Howe said: “Yeah, hopefully.

“It’s always difficult to give a guarantee, but he did train with the team yesterday (Friday).

“We need to make sure when he comes back he’s fit enough to do himself and the team justice.

“Hopefully, with a good training week under his belt, he’ll be closer.”

In his last outing for the club, Saint-Maximin won the August Goal of the Month award for his last-minute volley versus Wolves.

Before that, the former Nice winger was awarded the Man of the Match award for his display during the 3-3 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City.
