Gordon - who starred for England under-21s last summer - now gets a chance to stake his claim ahead of Euro 2024. Newcastle fans are in for a treat this evening as the 23-year-old will take on club teammate Bruno Guimaraes.

NUFC chase Juve youngster

Newcastle are reportedly battling it out with Manchester United and Arsenal for Juventus defender Dean Huijsen. That is according to Tutto Juve, who claim the Serie A giants will offload the 18-year-old this summer.

Huijsen has spent this season on loan at Roma and is unlikely to be given a chance when he returns to the Old Lady. Valued at £10million, the centre-back was born in the Netherlands but represents Spain at under-21 level.

Signing youngsters has been a top priority for Newcastle since the Saudi-backed takeover. Dan Ashworth - now set to leave the club - made a conscious effort to bolster the academy ranks and that policy is set to continue as the Magpies adopt a prudent FFP/PSR approach.
