Aston Villa late injury doubt as £21m Newcastle United star set for welcome return - early team news

Aston Villa v Newcastle United early team news: The latest on the likes of Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Pau Torres, Jacob Ramsey and Lucas Digne.

Newcastle United face high-flying Aston Villa hoping to end a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats.

The Magpies thrashed Villa 5-1 on the opening day of the season at St James' Park following a brace from Alexander Isak, plus goals from Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson.

However, it is the visitors who have gone on to have a better campaign so far as they sit fourth in the top-flight table. Meanwhile, United sit in 10th, 11 points outside the top four.

In many ways, Unai Emery's men are mirroring what Newcastle did last year after they broke into the top four to seal Champions League qualification.

Villa have been extremely strong on home turf this term having won nine of their 10 matches, the only exception being the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United last month.

By contrast, Eddie Howe's side have the second-worst away record in the division with their 8-0 win at Bramall Lane in September the only victory. They'll hope to take confidence from the FA Cup win away to Fulham on Saturday.

Both Howe and Emery spoke to the media on Monday to provide the latest injury news with the likes of Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron, Harvey Barnes, Paul Torres, Jacob Ramsey and Lucas Digne coming up in conversation.

Here's the latest injury news from both camps:
