'At least' - Eddie Howe makes new Newcastle United transfer claim as talks over sixth summer signing
The Magpies have made five new signings so far this window. Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy joined on free transfers from AFC Bournemouth and Birmingham City, respectively, while Odysseas Vlachodimos arrived from Nottingham Forest as part of the trade off that saw Elliot Anderson go in the other direction.
Lewis Hall’s loan move from Chelsea turned permanent for an initial £28million. United’s latest recruit is Will Osula from Sheffield United for £10m which could rise to £15m in add-ons.

“The window has been slightly slower this year, it does seem to be picking up now and we’re hopeful of being active to add at least one player to the group. Let’s wait and see.”
Newcastle remain in talks with Crystal Palace over signing Marc Guehi, despite having two bids rejected. The Eagles value the centre-back at around £65m, a fee that would represent a club-record transfer should United agree at that price.
The right forward position has also been identified as an area to strengthen but that could be dependant on outgoings as Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) continue to restrict Newcastle’s ability to spend.

There are not many players who will make us better.
