Big changes & Allan Saint-Maximin call: Newcastle United’s predicted starting XI v Leicester City - gallery
Newcastle United’s predicted starting XI to face Leicester City in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
Eddie Howe will name a full-strength starting XI to take on Leicester City in the last eight of the Carabao Cup this evening (kick-off 8pm).
The Magpies head coach opted for eight changes, namely consisting of fringe players, in the FA Cup third exit defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
And for the visit of Leicester, where United have the opportunity to reach their first semi-final in 18 years, Howe will revert back to the line-up that has gone 13 Premier League games unbeaten.
“This is the biggest game of our season, because it is the next game,” Howe said. “But it does have a special meaning, we understand that.
“We need what we have had every home game, a brilliant atmosphere and environment where the team can excel and feel free to give their best.”
Here’s our predicted Newcastle starting XI take on the Foxes at St James’ Park.

1. GK: Nick Pope
Pope was rested against Sheffield Wednesday, paving the way for him to step straight back into the starting XI.

2. RB: Kieran Trippier
Introduced as a second half substitute against Sheff Wed and made an immediate impact by delivering the corner that Bruno scored from.

3. CB: Fabian Schar
Schar was among the players rested for the FA Cup clash. Is reportedly nursing a knock but should OK to feature.

4. CB: Sven Botman
Played the full 90 minutes at Hillsborough as Botman tasted his first defeat as a Newcastle player.
