Newcastle United have a dilemma on their hands when it comes to £7million sensation Yankuba Minteh

Newcastle United are considering selling Yankuba Minteh to alleviate FFP/PSR concerns, according to reports.

Toon fans are eager to watch the Gambian international in action following a stellar campaign on loan at Feyenoord. Signed from Odense Boldklub for £7million last summer, Minteh was immediately sent to the continent for first-team football.

The 19-year-old overcame a patchy start to become a star performer by the end of 2023-24. He made 17 goal contributions, scoring in the Champions League and helping Feyenoord win the Dutch Cup.

The Eredivisie outfit are understood to want him on another season-long loan but financial constraints may force Newcastle’s hands. A Telegraph report claims the Magpies have received several offers for Minteh and may accept a bid in the region of £40million.

Liverpool are named as one of the Premier League clubs interested. New Reds boss Arne Slot mentored Minteh at Feyenoord - and has openly discussed his admiration for the winger.

“He certainly doesn’t lack self-confidence,” Slot said about Minteh earlier this year. “His willingness to give everything is enormous. When we see his statistics, it is really impressive. Minteh - dubbed the “Gambian Messi” - ran more sprint metres against Ajax in an hour than many players in the two games. He is incredibly fast."

The Toon prodigy previously outlined his long-term desire to play at St James’ Park. Minteh said: “Ultimately though, the Premier League is my goal. Newcastle United is the club that have a lot of confidence in me. I have no idea what the future looks like.

“I was in Newcastle once, when they played against Borussia Dortmund. I will hear soon what plans the club has for me. I’m still young, I have time, maybe they want to loan me out again.

“I don’t know yet, I’ll hear about it. I’ll let everything happen to me. I know only that one day I will play in the Premier League (for Newcastle United).”
