Borussia Dortmund are sweating over the fitness of Emre Can and Marius Wolf ahead of Saturday night’s Bundesliga showdown against Bayern Munich (kick-off 5:30pm).

Can has missed Dortmund’s last two games against Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim after withdrawing with a thigh injury during his side’s 1-0 victory at St James’ Park last week. Meanwhile, right-back Wolf was substituted near the hour-mark on Wednesday with a knee issue.

Newcastle United are the visitors to the Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League just three days after Dortmund host Bayern.

Following BVB’s victory on Tyneside, both teams are level on points (4) in Group F after the opening three games with the German outfit sitting second on head-to-head record.

So far, Newcastle have drawn in Milan and thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 but will need to avoid defeat against Edin Terzic’s men in order to keep their hopes of progressing into the knockout stages alive.

The Magpies, who dumped Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, go up against Premier League title challengers Arsenal at the same time BVB play Bayern. Eddie Howe is expected to be without nine senior players as his injury list continues to build.
