Bruno Guimaraes has sent Newcastle United supporters into a frenzy by posting his pre-match social media post.

In a world dominated by the internet, fans eagerly await online acknowledgement from players that they are in the matchday squad. It is usually a telltale sign that someone is fit and available should they post a graphic several hours before kick-off.

However, with misinformation also prevalent in everyday life, rumours were rampant this morning that Guimaraes was out through injury. The Brazilian has been instrumental for Newcastle since he arrived from Lyon over two years ago.

For context, the Magpies have failed to win any of their eight Premier League games without Guimaraes in the starting line-up since he made his full debut against Southampton in March 2022. The 26-year-old has also started every league game for Newcastle in 2023-24 aside from Bournemouth away, a fixture he missed through suspension.

Fears about Guimaraes missing the Everton clash appeared to stem from him posting - then subsequently deleting - his pre-match tweet. This prompted Toon fans to believe their talisman had become the latest star serving time on the sidelines.

An internet meltdown ensued - only for Guimaraes to calm the nerves ahead of tonight’s clash. The Brazilian maestro teased fans with an image of him donning the black and white stripes before tonight’s clash against Everton.

“Me boys can’t wait for the two of you (Guimaraes and Joelinton) back together playing again,” one fan posted. “Have a great game tonight Bruno.”

Another fan wrote: “After all the mad rumours on here today. I’ve never been so pleased to see Bruno’s match day tweet.”
