Bruno Guimaraes drops quirky seven-word message before Newcastle United WAG reveals his romantic side
If you didn’t know by now, Bruno Guimaraes is an emotional lad. The Newcastle United skipper wears his heart on his sleeve while in black and white, and away from football, is never scared of showing his love for his family off the field.
So, it’s no surprise his romantic side, after a prolonged period with his wife Ana Lidia Martins and their two sons, Matteo and Pietro, has been revealed, after a series of social media posts from his other half.

Hide AdGuimaraes appears to have been flying solo on Tyneside since before the Carabao Cup trophy parade, with his family seemingly remaining in Brazil while he travelled back for the party. Prior to the celebrations, Guimaraes was, of course, representing his country, Brazil, in their World Cup qualification campaign. And when the call came for Bruno - the first NUFC captain to lift a major trophy since 1969 - to return, he came back to be star of the show on the Town Moor.

TV stations had to issue apologies for his x-rated jokes and quips on the stage, as his words, clean or otherwise, were beamed out for the world to see. But since then, it’s been back to business for Bruno & Co, with the players firstly beating Brentford at St James’ Park, then taking that down to the East Midlands for a straightforward 3-0 run out at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. It hasn’t all been work for Guimaraes, though, as he’s shown himself to be in the gym, training, and taking up one of his favourite pastimes, fishing, in the Northumberland countryside.
Next up for Newcastle is a home clash against Manchester United, where Bruno will again lead the players out as captain. Those games are always quite the occasion at St James’ Park - and Guimaraes will once again be supported by those he loves from the stands. And to show he’s not taking things lightly, the Brazilian posted a pic of himself in his home gym, with the words: “Man does not live by fishing alone”.
And welcoming his family back to Tyneside, in particular, his wife, Guimaraes showed a softer side to his character, lining the floors of his home, to the bedroom, with rose petals. Posting to her Instagram, as per the video that plays above, Lidia Martins shared the scene that welcomed her back to their home, with petals, all the way into the bedroom, with various messages written in Portuguese, then the bed laden with two huge bunches of roses and some pictures of their wedding, and the the pair with their children.
