Bruno Guimaraes has urged Newcastle United fans to recreate a PSG-like atmosphere against Arsenal.

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has sent a message to supporters ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg clash against Arsenal.

It’s advantage Newcastle, who lead the tie 2-0 following goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon at the Emirates four weeks ago. Now, Eddie Howe’s side must get the job done in front of their own fans as they look to take a big step closer to ending the club’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.

And the St James’ Park faithful are being asked to do their bit. Leading the campaign on social media is Wor Flags, with those in attendance urged to create an atmosphere that replicates the 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last season.

“24 hours to go… Another atmosphere like this needed under the lights tomorrow night,” Wor Flags wrote X. “We all need to do our part in the stands. Get in early, twirl those scarves and make one hell of a racket. Howay the Lads!”

The plead was seen by Newcastle skipper Guimaraes, who echoed their sentiments. Replying to the post, the Brazilian said: “We need an atmosphere like that for tomorrow!! We go together as always. Howay the lads”.

Eddie Howe (unsurprisingly) stays calm

While there is talk of excitement and nerves, Howe, to little surprise, is remaining calm and composed.

Speaking at his pre-match press confernece, Howe said: “Nerves and excitement are closely linked to each other as emotions and you have to focus on that side of it, the positive side much more than the negative side.

“I understand the brain can go in different directions but ultimately when you look at this game, we are in a cup semi final, what a great opportunity we’ve got - and that’s if it's 0-0. So forget any talk of a lead, it’s 0-0 and we are at home.

“What an opportunity to attack the game and embrace everything in front of us, to be at our best. That is what we are going to try to do.

“I think for supporters and anyone connected with Newcastle, there will be a range of emotions .You have to channel those feelings. What I have tried to do with players is to channel those thoughts into excitement.

“It is a game you want to be involved in, I dont think we want to look at it in any other way. What an opportunity for us . And I am not necessarily talking about the scoreline leading into the game, I am talking about the game itself.

“It is a game we are going to try to win and I think that is the best way to attack the game Look at it purely as a one game opportunity to get to a cup final."
