Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has reflected on his “most physically and mentally demanding season” to date.
Guimaraes played a starring role in the Magpies’ incredible 2022-23 Premier League campaign in which a return to the Champions League was secured following a 20-year absence.

And having made 40 appearances in total, Guimaraes admitted the physical endurance he and his teammates have given to each match has taken its toll on his body.
“Pain, blows, injuries and mental fatigue. This may have been my most physically and mentally demanding season,” he posted on Instagram.
“I’ve gone through a lot of adversity and learned to know my body in a way that I had not yet understood! Facing many battles with myself and my head about want and power!”

“Thank God today I can say everything went well,” he added. “A season of much learning and knowledge closes for a new cycle that is about to begin. Accomplished by going over all barriers and most importantly with duty accomplished! This is so priceless! Let’s go forward and soon more challenges ahead ⚽ 🖤 🤍”
Guimaraes will now link up with Brazil for upcoming fixtures against Guinea and Senegal alongside Newcastle teammate Joelinton for the first time call up. He’ll then enjoy a period f rest before returning to Newcastle in July for pre-season.
