Bruno Guimaraes has sent Newcastle United fans into meltdown on social media with a cryptic tweet - but they think they know what he might mean.

The Brazilian has received hundreds of replies after posting an eyes emoji and a grinning emoji on Twitter early this afternoon.

And all supporters are jumping to the same conclusion.

Reports late last year claimed the Magpies were ready to open talks with the 25-year-old over a new contract after a remarkable opening 12 months at St James’ Park.

Not only has Guimaraes consistently shown his quality on the pitch, but he’s also endeared himself to the Geordie fanbase.

Speaking about his move from Lyon last January, Guimaraes said: “To change country, to change leagues, and in a World Cup year as well, it was a really hard decision but I think it was the right one. I’m so happy. It’s an amazing step. I feel like a Geordie now.

“I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League but, honestly, I never thought it could be this good. I’m proud of what I’m doing, of myself and of the club, but it was a difficult choice.

“I love playing here, I love to bond with the fans, and I want to become a legend here. I have three or four years of contract left. It’s so long. I swear I’m not thinking about other things. My focus now is just on Newcastle and the World Cup.”
