The 30-year-old is now vying for a place in Eddie Howe’s side for the visit to Fulham on Saturday.

Despite struggling with the North East weather, the former Bournemouth forward has been outspoken with his love for Newcastle.

He recently admitted that St. James’ Park was his favourite stadium to play at even before moving to Tyneside, and now he’s given an update on his long-term career plans that Newcastle United fans will love.

Speaking on BBC Sounds’ The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson was asked if he would ever consider a move abroad to play his football.

He said: “I’ve never really thought about it. I do dabble in a bit of español!

“It’s difficult for me, I’m 30 with two kids. It’s a situation of having to take them abroad with me, it’s not just me I’m making a decision on behalf of myself.

“I might learn the language, but they might not learn it as quickly. They’d make friendships with anyone - my son was playing on a beach in Qatar a few years ago and made friends with some Arab children who didn’t even speak English, they connected through football. It does bring people together but, personally, for me, I’ll just retire at Newcastle. I’d be happy.”
