Callum Wilson injury latest as Newcastle United dealt surgery & suspension blow - 10 ruled out v Bournemouth

Newcastle United early team news v Bournemouth: Callum Wilson injury doubt as 10 players ruled out.

Callum Wilson is a doubt for Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Bournemouth this evening (kick-off 5:30pm).

The 31-year-old started the 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday evening but was brought off at half-time because of hamstring tightness.

Wilson has been in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia next weekend but his involvement is dependent on his injury status.

The Magpies will make a late decision on whether he is fit enough to feature against the Cherries.

"We're doing various tests," Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said on Friday. "He's been called up for England so we're waiting to see if he'll be fit for this game and then make a decision after.

“Gareth [Southgate], England and ourselves will be in constant communication, as we are with all our international players to make sure their welfare is thought about at all times.”

While there is uncertainty over Wilson, Howe is definitely without 10 senior players through a mix of injuries and suspensions.
