Eddie Howe will be forced into at least one change to his Newcastle United starting XI against Wolves this afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm).
With Joelinton suspended for the next two matches after he picked up his 10th yellow card of the campaign last weekend, Howe will decide whether to call upon Joe Willock or Elliot Anderson, or change formation to utilise his attacking options.
But that isn’t the only selection dilemma the Magpies’ head coach is facing. Callum Wilson has scored just one goal in 14 matches, leading to calls by supporters to start club-record signing Alexander Isak instead.
Who will Howe name in his Newcastle starting XI? Here’s what we’re predicting:
1. GK: Nick Pope
Although Pope conceded two goals at Man City last weekend, he didn’t have much to do. Is eyeing a first PL clean sheet since the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace. Photo: Stu Forster
2. RB: Kieran Trippier
There’s an argument to say Trippier hasn’t been at his very best recently, but the England right-back remains invaluable to United. Photo: Laurence Griffiths
3. CB: Jamaal Lascelles
Lascelles put in a strong performance at Man City last weekend, which could convince Howe to keep faith with his captain, despite Fabian Schar’s availability. Photo: Laurence Griffiths
4. CB: Sven Botman
Botman has been linked with French giants Paris Saint-Germain this week - a big marker to highlight how much the Dutchman has impressed on Tyneside. Photo: PAUL ELLIS
