Wilson is yet to feature for the Magpies this campaign after sustaining a back injury in pre-season. The 32-year-old’s last competitive appearance came on the final day of last season - the 4-2 victory at Brentford.
Having returned to training ahead of the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on October 19, it was hoped Wilson would return for the trip to Chelsea a week later.

“He’s doing ok, he’s building his load again,” head coach Eddie Howe said recently. “There was no real injury but a feeling in his body he couldn't push as hard as he wanted to push and needs to push to play at this level. Physically you have to be perfect at this level.”
The 32-year-old has spent time away from Newcastle’s training ground and on Sunday was spotted in the gym with FC Copenhagen youngster Roony Bardghji.
Bardghji suffered an ACL injury in May at a time when some of Europe’s biggest clubs were showing an interest. The likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Manchester United, who he scored against in last season’s Champions League, have been linked with the 18-year-old.

It has been a frustrating time for Wilson, who has made just appearances this year, only two of which have been starts. His last was at Burnley in May where his goal saw him climb to second behind Alan Shearer in Newcastle’s all-time Premier League top scorer chart.
