Newcastle United are facing some major competition for one of their reported transfer targets this summer.

Not for the first time in recent years, the Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid and Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco.

A possible move to Tyneside was reported during the final days of the January transfer window and that talk has returned since the end of last season.

There were reports Carrasco has rejected an approach from Newcastle in recent weeks and the Belgian star is now the subject of interest from a number of other Premier League clubs.

Spanish outlet AS have reported Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have made offers for the winger and Manchester United also maintain an interest in securing his services.

The report suggests Carrasco has ‘important offers’ and revealed a bid of £51.5million would be enough to trigger a release clause in his current deal at Atletico.

The 28-year-old was a key part of the Atleti squad and made 44 appearances in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side during the campaign.

It has been reported the former Argentina international midfielder is keen to retain the services of Carassco but could be left helpless if one of the Premier League clubs activates the buy-out clause in his current contract.
