Chelsea will be without Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill for Monday night's Premier League clash against Newcastle United (kick-off 8pm).
The defensive duo started the Blues' 2-2 draw away to Brentford last Saturday. Chilwell is undergoing a specialist medical assessment on a hamstring issue, while Colwill is beginning a rehabilitation programme on a toe injury,
Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher is a major doubt for the visit of Newcastle because of a virus. "He is still not here in the last three days we were training," said Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino. "We will see Saturday or tomorrow if he has the possibility to train.
"I think the problem, always with this type of situation, you lose weight and energy and you need time to recover. We'll if it can be possible to be available and which level of available, whether he can play or play few minutes.
"We will need to assess him in the next few days."
Chelsea are set to be without seven first-team players as injuries begin to take hold of their campaign.
“It’s very frustrating and disappointing, because the situation has never allowed us [to] work with the full squad," said Pochettino. "Yes, we are suffering this kind of negativity in terms of injuries, but we cannot stop believing and stop working. We need to give confidence to the players who will play on Monday.”
