Newcastle United are getting ready for their Carabao Cup semi final second leg tonight with plenty going on behind the scenes as the January transfer window comes to a close.
The Magpies have brought in Harrison Ashby from West Ham today and there could be at least one more deal to come with a new midfielder a possibility. Jonjo Shelvey looks set to join Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and reports are suggesting that the Magpies could make a move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. Meanwhile, Sheffield United star Sander Berge now looks unlikely to be making a move despite links with both United and Fulham after he was pictured training with the Blades this afternoon.

Newcastle United and West Ham target ‘poised’ to join PSG
Per a report from Inside Futbol, Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech is poised to complete a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Moroccan star had been linked with both Newcastle United and West Ham during this window.
Several previous reports had claimed that the Magpies were keen on a loan move of their own with the player becoming increasingly frustrated at Stamford Bridge due to his lack of regular game time. However, it now looks like the player will be leaving but not staying in the Premier League as he jets off to the French capital.
Southampton ‘agree’ £25 million fee for Ghanaian winger
As reported by TalkSPORT, Southampton have agreed a fee with French side Rennes for winger Kamaldeen Sulemana. The Saints will reportedly pay £25 million for the Ghanaian who featured for his country at the FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar last year.

Everton had also been linked with the 20-year old who has scored one goal in 22 appearances across all competitions for Rennes this season. It is highly unlikely the signing would be completed and the player registered in time for him to play any part in tonight’s Carabao Cup semi final second leg at St James’ Park.
