Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly has a clause in his contract at Al-Nassr that allows him to join Newcastle United on loan. The Portugal international’s association with the Premier League may not be over just yet.

According to Spanish news outlet Marca, the attacker has the option of linking up with the North East outfit on a temporary basis if they can qualify for the Champions League. Eddie Howe’s side are currently sat in 3rd place.

Ronaldo cut ties with Manchester United last month after his explosive television interview with Piers Morgan and saw his contract at Old Trafford mutually terminated. He then went to the World Cup and weighed up his next move in the game, holding ‘talks’ with the Toon Army during that period.

The 37-year-old was then snapped up by Al-Nassr in late December and opted to leave Europe for the first time in his career. The former Real Madrid ace will now be teammates with the likes of David Ospina, Luiz Gustavo and Anderson Talisca at Mrsool Park. They finished 3rd in the Saudi Pro League last term but are currently sat top of the table after 11 games in this campaign having lost only once.

Newcastle will have a decision to make if they can get into the Champions League next term regarding Ronaldo. He could prove to be a useful option at the top end of the pitch and is one of the greatest players to grace a football pitch, however, he will be 38 at the end of this season.
