Alan Shearer has furiously hit out at the decision to award Paris Saint-Germain a late penalty which Kylian Mbappe converted to deny Newcastle United a famous win in the French capital.

Tino Livramento was penalised for a handball in the eighth minute of stoppage time, despite replays showing the ball hit the full-back's body before striking the arm.

PSG's appeals were initially waved away by the referee but he changed his decision when sent over to the VAR monitor.

The Magpies were on course to move up to second in Group F and in turn put Eddie Howe's side in prime position to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

In an X-rated response, Shearer posted on X: "Do me a ------ favour man. What a load of ----. #VAR."

He later added: A superb battling away performance from every single player. Shouldn’t be spoilt by a disgusting decision. Well done @NUFC".
