Eddie Howe asked me to provide the free agents available to Newcastle United - here's my hilarious suggestions

Eddie Howe asked me to provide a list of free agents available to Newcastle United - and here's my hilarious suggestions.

Newcastle United are likely to be without a recognised senior striker for Saturday's Premier League clash at home to AFC Bournemouth.

Callum Wilson has undergone surgery on his pectoral muscle and will be out for up to 12 weeks. Meanwhile, Alexander Isak is a doubt for the visit of the Cherries as he recovers from a groin injury.

Although Isak is close to returning after missing the last two matches, his ongoing groin issue is a concern for Eddie Howe's men. Without Wilson as back-up, it'd be no surprise to see the Swede sidelined again.

I attended Howe's pre-Bournemouth press conference on Friday... and yes, it might seem like a daft question to some (I don't pretend that i'm not daft by the way!) but I asked United's boss if he'd consider signing a free agent striker.

For context, Newcastle have two places free in their 25-man Premier League squad and NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies can still register players until the fourth Thursday in March.

What was Howe's response? “If you can give me some names," he laughed.

Well, I've spent my Friday afternoon looking at the strikers currently without a club, and much like Howe's sceptical response, there aren't many, or any centre forwards, that will take the head coach's fancy.

Here's a list of nine players I came across in my browse of Transfermarkt... (Disclaimer: This is a bit fun of fun, please don't angry tweet me...)
