“I don’t know why Callum would go down – he was one on one, a great chance. Games swing on those moments.
“It feels like those big calls have gone against us.
“I’m not seeking any controversy here but I felt the 50/50 calls tended to go against us but as the away team at a top club, sometimes that happens.”
What were the other key moments in front of goal for Newcastle?
Jonjo Shelvey almost opened the scoring in the first-half but was denied by the fingertips of Aaron Ramsdale.

“I thought it was in,” Howe said about the Shelvey chance.
“The pleasing thing today is how we started and finished the game. We created chances.
“Ramsdale has played well. We weren’t clinical but at least we were creating chances.
“The players have been very responsive. They have given everything in the two games. I can’t ask more than their best.”
