Newcastle United will be without Joelinton for a “few weeks” after the midfielder suffered a knee injury on international duty with Brazil.
The 27-year-old linked up with the Selecao squad despite Magpies head coach Eddie Howe revealing he “was not at 100 per-cent” for the 3-1 loss at Brighton and Hove Albion.

He returned to Tyneside on Thursday and was assessed by Newcastle medics. The 27-year-old was ruled out of the 1-0 win over Brentford, and Howe confirmed the severity of his injury after the game.
“Joe had a recurrence of his knee injury playing for Brazil in the second game,” said Howe. “It looks like he’ll be missing for a few weeks.”
Howe is already without Joe Willock for another month or so after the former Arsenal man picked up an Achilles injury whilst recovering from a hamstring issue.
