A first-half Newcastle United blitz ensured Eddie Howe’s Magpies won their sixth Premier League win on the bounce at the King Power Stadium.

Shell-shocked Leicester City were dismantled in the opening 45 as a Chris Wood penalty, Miguel Almiron’s ninth goal of the campaign and Joelinton’s first ensured all three points headed back north.

And with that result, United finished the day SECOND in the Premier League table. Here’s what head coach Eddie Howe had to say about the result.

“I’ve got no problem with the supporters talking and dreaming and speculating about what we can achieve,” the 45-year-old said. “And there’s no doubt you guys (journalists) will because I can’t control that.

“I just think the only thing we need to be mindful of eternally is we just have to focus on what we can control, which is our own thoughts, actions, how we train and how we prepare.

“We can’t look too far ahead or listen to too much news, media or whatever. We can only focus on our training and focus on it game-by-game because this is the toughest league in the world for a reason.

“Our opposition will no doubt be watching us and preparing for us so we need to be ready.”
