Isak landed on Tyneside from San Sebastian yesterday to undergo medical tests and complete other formalities.
The Magpies are yet to officially announce his arrival but Howe is hopeful he’ll be signed in time to make the squad against Wolves.
“It’s not completed,” Howe said. “We hope to get it done.”

Asked if Isak will make the trip to Molineux, Howe said: “Yeah, fingers crossed. There’s no guarantee with these things because we’re in other people’s hands.”
The Sweden international must be registered to the Premier League by 12pm today in order to be eligible.
“He’ll probably need to train with us in the next few days to be available to play.

“We’ll need to see how he is physically after his game last week so we’re very keen to see him and get him involved as quickly as possible.”
