Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe admits he’s got a tough call to make on the potential recall of Martin Dubravka.

It has been widely accepted the Slovakian would come straight back into the side under a new manager, but having only made his return from six months out with an ankle injury this week, Howe says it’s going to be a difficult decision to drop Karl Darlow.

“Dubravka played in midweek,” said Howe at his pre-match press conference ahead of Brentford.

“But it was his first game in a long time so I have a tough call to make.”

Darlow has deputised for the United No.1 in recent weeks since returning from a spell on the sidelines due to Covid. Freddie Woodman started the campaign in goal for the Magpies.

Elsewhere, Howe admits he’s got a near full squad to choose from for the visit of the Bees to St James’ Park tomorrow - although it remains to be seen whether he calls upon Miguel Almiron, who only returned from international duty today.

“All the boys except from Almiron are back from international duty so I’m looking forward to seeing him,” said Howe.

“We have Dummett out injured but everyone else is OK.”
