Eddie Howe felt it was two points dropped against Manchester United.

Allan Saint-Maximin handed Newcastle United the lead on seven minutes before David de Gea denied the Frenchman from point-blank range early in the second-half.

Substitute Edinson Cavani then levelled proceedings. De Gea, however, wasn’t finished there as he produced a world-class save to deny Miguel Almiron late on.

Howe’s side have dropped 19 points from winning positions this season - more than any other Premier League club.

‘Desperately disappointed’

“We are desperately disappointed not to win,” Howe told NewcastleWorld. “We defended really well. I thought we were tight in our lines.

“I thought that we were really diligent, tactically excellent. And we were really good in transition, a counter-attack threat throughout the game.

“We created so many chances to get that second goal, which would have proved crucial in the end.”
