Eddie Howe has revealed why Allan Saint-Maximin missed Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United.
The Frenchman had started every game since Howe’s arrived in November but did not make the trip to London due to a calf injury.

Hide AdSaint-Maximin joined Kieran Trippier in the treatment room - two of the players key to the Magpies’ six-game unbeaten run.
While it’s bad news on Trippier with the England right-back set to miss the next 11 games at least, Howe hopes the winger’s injury isn’t “too serious”.

Howe said: “Maxi got a kick on his calf against Aston Villa, I think you saw him limping towards the end of the game.
“He didn’t train this week. We hoped he’d be fit but obviously he didn’t make the game.

United’s point at the London Stadium opened up a five-point advantage over the Premier League relegation zone ahead of the rest of the weekend matches.
