The Magpies have enjoyed a solid pre-season, and their summer campaign is now over and done with. Eddie Howe and the club’s recruitment staff have managed to add a number of key targets, including Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento. But there is still work to do, particularly in terms of outgoings, with Newcastle needing to balance the books.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

Llorente links

Newcastle are being linked with a surprise move for Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente.

According to Fichajes, the Magpies are interested in a move for the 28-year-old, who has been superb for Atleti over recent years. It’s claimed Eddie Howe wants Llorente at “all costs”, and it must be said that he is Howe’s type of player. The Spaniard is a workhorse in midfield.

Llorente is said to have been subject to a £25million bid from Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, but he remains with Atletico Madrid heading into the new season.

Rollheise links

Elsewhere, Newcastle are being linked with a move for Argentine star Benjamin Rollheise.

According to Alan Nixon, the Magpies are interested in a move for the Estudiantes star. Rollheise’s manager, Eduardo Domínguez, has recently raved about the winger.

“The comparison has to be with the maximum expression,” he said. “It seems to me that he has things, if we understand that it is not that he is Messi. I do not know when another will come out. Of course, today he is one of the most decisive players in Argentine football and he has to learn to take care of what he is achieving. What he is experiencing was not free.”
