Eddie Howe’s surprise Covid jab admission ahead of Newcastle United transfer chase

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says the club WILL consider potential new signings' vaccination status before striking January deals.

Howe made the surprise admission at his pre-Liverpool press conference this week when pushed on the subject.

The new Omicron strain is ripping through the UK at present with positive cases at an all-time high in the Premier League.

And Howe says the Magpies are taking into consideration whether players have been jabbed or double-jabbed when looking into signings in the winter window.

Howe taking vaccination status seriously

"It is certainly something we will be considering," said Howe.

"The vaccination status of players is something we will be taking very seriously."

On the state of play within his own squad in terms of double vaccination, the head coach added: "We are in constant dialogue with all of our players, educating them, making sure that we're in tune with everyone else who has been following these guidelines."

Premier League games OFF

Last night’s clash between Burnley and Watford was called off due to a number of positive Covid cases within the Hornets’ squad.

And this evening, Tottenham Hotspur against Leicester City has all been postponed to a Covid infections in both squads.
