Eddie Howe’s transfer message to Newcastle United fans amid transfer frustration

Eddie Howe is refusing to panic in Newcastle United’s search for attacking reinforcements.

It’s been over a month since the Magpies last made a new signing when Sven Botman joined from Lille in a deal worth around £33million.

United have strengthened their backline with Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope, but the search for attacking signings have proved tricky.

Newcastle have had to deal with a number of factors, including inflated price tags, which ties into Financial Fair Play regulations.

The search continues, though Howe confirmed before Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brighton and Hove Albion the club was no closer to adding a new signing.

“I’m really sorry to say, no,” he said.

“I’m sorry to keep giving you the same answers, I want to give you a different response but I can’t.

“We’re no closer currently but hopefully in the next week or so, it might be different.

With frustration building among sections of the fanbase, Howe insists he is “not anxious” and there is “still time” to add new recruits before the deadline on September 1.

The 44-year-old said: “I’d love to bring somebody in or players in we feel can benefit the group and add to what we have.

“But, I’m not anxious about that currently.

“The squad is in a very good place, very confident. There’s a good feeling about the group, good dynamic internally. We still have time.”
