Yankuba Minteh has been a revelation on loan at Feyenoord this season - registering 14 goal contributions

Feyenoord are determined to sign Yankuba Minteh on loan for another season, according to reports.

Newcastle United stumped up £7million to sign the winger from Odense Boldklub last summer. The 19-year-old was then immediately loaned out to Feyenoord instead of learning his craft under Eddie Howe.

Toon fans have since been wowed by Minteh’s performances whenever footage has emerged on social media. A solid 14 goal contributions this season - including a strike against Celtic in the Champions League - has triggered a debate about where his future lies.

Eddie Howe has remained coy on the situation, with Minteh, who was sent off during Feyenoord’s Dutch Cup final victory at the weekend, also staying ambiguous. Voetbal International are reporting that De Kuip “will do everything” to re-sign the Gambian youngster on loan.

Feyenoord CEO Dennis te Kloese recently celebrated the “excellent deal” while also hinting at the club’s relationship with Newcastle. Following the cup triumph, he said: “It turned out to be an excellent deal. We have good contact with Newcastle.

“Both parties are happy with how things went. Everyone now sees that it can be a good construction for those types of clubs to first loan out such players for a year.”

A permanent deal remains out of the question as Newcastle ponder on whether to give Minteh a chance next season. The right flank has been a problem for the Magpies in recent times, with Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy both facing criticism regarding their long-term aspirations on Tyneside.
