‘Faultless display’ - Newcastle United player ratings as January signing stars against Crystal Palace
Newcastle United player ratings from the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United hit the 40 points total and all-but sealed Premier League safety with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Miguel Almiron’s only goal of the game midway through the first-half moved the Magpies into 11th, level on points with 10th place Brighton.
It was sixth home win a row for Eddie Howe’s side, the first time that’s been done since the Sir Bobby Robson days.
Howe named an unchanged starting XI to the side that beat Leicester City 2-1 through Bruno Guimaraes’ injury-time winner.
The Brazilian scored a brace against the Foxes and versus Palace, he contributed yet again, this time assisting United’s opener.
His ball over the top was latched onto by Almiron, who evaded the challenge of Tyrick Mitchell before producing a stunning finish into the top left corner on 33 minutes.
Here, Jordan Cronin dishes out his Newcastle player ratings from the win against Palace:

1. Martin Dubravka - 6
Quiet evening for Dubravka, who kept his sixth clean sheet of the campaign.

2. Emil Krafth - 7
Zaha is such a difficult opponent in more ways than one. A quality player, but also very easily wound up. Krafth certainly backed up his superb performance on Sunday to keep Zaha’s threat to a minimum. Photo: George Wood

3. Fabian Schar - 6
A shaky start by Schar after gifting possession to Edouard. Luckily for the defender, Targett was on hand to bail him out as he intercepted the killer pass to Gallagher. Photo: George Wood

4. Dan Burn - 7
Another solid display by the Blyth-born defender, who went about his business quietly against Palace. Got a vital touch to the ball as Mateta raced in on goal on 62 minutes.
